    This online course is designed to maximize the learner experience, providing relevant AP content and pedagogy through meaningful engagement – all focused on best practices for preparing your AP students for success. It will provide an overview of the AP 人文地理 curriculum and help participants design their own course. 参与者 will learn how AP questions are written, and how students will be assessed on both the multiple choice and Free Response Questions (FRQ) sections of the exam. 特殊的 attention will be given to the command verbs used in the exam to direct the student on what information will earn points on the FRQs. 参与者 also will examine the wealth of resources in AP Central and the MyAP Classroom Website, with its Progress Checks, Dashboard and Question Bank. In addition, participants will analyze the CED and learn to use it to plan lessons and assessments. 参与者 will review lesson plans, resources, and websites for teaching each of the major course topics, including geographic concepts, population, migration, cultural patterns, the political organization of space, rural land use, urban geography, and industrialization. 本课程将 focus on effective teaching strategies and learning activities to prepare for students’ success on the AP exam. Our APSI will also include the participation of key speakers including representatives from Population 教育, the APHG Chief Reader and experts on new mapping resources that teachers will be able to utilize in the classroom.

    Lili has conducted numerous AP® teacher workshops and summer institutes, including two workshops at the College Board AP® National Conference. She has worked as an AP® 人文地理 reader, table leader, question leader, and Assistant Chief Reader for 18 years and served on the AP® 人文地理 Test Development 委员会 from 2006-2013. She recently served as an editorial consultant on several AP textbooks and has worked on the ancillary materials for the 人文地理 for the AP Course published by Bedford Freeman Publishers. In 2018, she also created lessons on global agriculture for the educational website, AgCultures. In 2011, 丽丽收到了 a Distinguished Teacher Award from the Fulbright Foundation for research and teaching in Argentina. Her research on the impact of trains on the depopulation of small towns led to the publication of an article in The Geography Teacher magazine in 2013, which received the Best Content Article award from the National Council for Geographic 教育 (NCGE). Lili is the author of several other geography articles including "Beijing: A City in Search of its Destiny", also published in Geography Teacher in 2015, and New Trends in Cities and Suburbs in Advanced Placement 人文地理 co-authored with Lisa Benton-Short and published in the Journal of Geography in 2016. 丽丽收到了 a Distinguished Teaching Award from the National Council for Geographic 教育 in 2012 and was named one of 50 national Geography Teacher Fellows by the American Geographical Society in 2016 and 2017. She was also a member of the advisory committee of the Maryland Geographic Alliance and the AGS national Geography Teacher Fellows 委员会. Lili Monk taught both high school and college in Maryland and the District 哥伦比亚特区. She taught AP 人文地理 at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD, and now teaches geography at George Washington University. Lili Monk received 她的B.A. in History and Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She has a Master’s in International and Public Affairs (MIPA) from Columbia University (1978) and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Johns Hopkins University (2000). Lili speaks six languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, and Hebrew. Lili is married and has two children. She enjoys hiking, biking, swimming, and of course, traveling.
